Purpose and Format of Discussion Posts
We are using the “Window Pane” format for discussions in this course. The purpose of the window is to get you to think about the course materials in different ways, noting what is important, our reactions to the material, questions we have, and connections we make. We’ll use this template for all of our discussions this semester. The purpose of class discussions posts and responding to others is to further the conversation, helping all members of the class to explore the content more deeply and achieve the course learning outcomes. Your responses should add to, clarify, or constructively challenge. They should also be specific in nature. You’ll post a screenshot of your Window Pane in the discussion board that looks like this:
Note:
Discussions are always due at 11pm. You must post your original responses by that time – responses may not be edited, and you have to post your response before you will be able to see what others have posted. You have until the following night to read/reply to your peers.
Discussion posts must be done on time and may not be made up. However, if you miss one discussion, remember that the lowest grade in this category will be dropped.
Grading for Discussion Posts
Discussion Posts are worth up to 30 points each and will be scored according to this rubric:
