Week 4 : Soweto

The descendants of the Dutch colonists are now referred to as Afrikaners, and they speak the Afrikaans language. While the minority of the population of South Africa historically (and to this day) were White, this minority still controlled the government and enacted laws of segregation and economic hardship, collectively referred to as the system of Apartheid. Racial and ethnic differences leading to widespread injustice and genocide was a global issue.
