Week 6: Final Project

For this final Assignment, you will combine and revise some of your earlier work to create a single, polished document.  Be sure to address all of these items.

• Introduction: Using your Week 1 Journal about the Scramble for Africa (making any revisions suggested by your instructor), write an introduction that includes a description of the Age of Imperialism and how it represents the concept of diaspora.
• Travelogues: Include a copy of each of your travelogues from Weeks 2–5, making any revisions suggested by your instructor.
• World War I: Describe how World War I affected two of the four cities covered in this course (New Orleans, Paris, and Shanghai). Write at least one paragraph for each city.
• World War II: Describe how World War II affected the other two of the four cities covered in this course (New Orleans, Paris, and Shanghai). Write at least one paragraph for each city.
• Cultural Expression: Identify your favorite cultural expression (a song, a piece of art or literature, etc.)  from this course. Describe why you like it and what you have learned about history from it. Include a tie to at least one of the course resources listed within the cultural expression resource list provided in this course.
• Conclusion: Describe how the concepts of diaspora and accretion change the way local communities are defined by global historical events.
• Resources: On the last page of the document, compile all resources utilized in your project.  There should be at least 10 resources.
