Week 5: Exploring Disability Stereotypes and Discrimination

In an initial post of at least 350 words and citing at least two required resources,

• Identify common stereotypes and biases against people with disabilities in the workplace.
  • Explain the laws that protect people with disabilities in the workplace.
  • In what ways might organizations attempt to subvert these laws?
• Discuss the responsibilities organizations have to accommodate people with disabilities in the workplace and how such accommodations can enable gainful employment for individuals with disabilities.
  • Discuss the kinds of obstacles employers perceive in hiring and integrating people with disabilities into the workforce.
  • Debate these obstacles with strategies to provide equal access and accommodation for people with disabilities in the workplace.
  • Defend against the negative stereotypes of people with disabilities with arguments supporting their inclusion in the workplace.
