What is Federalism?

The United States of America has a federal system of governance which consists of the national government and the state government. The constitution of the US grants powers to the federal government over issues concerning the nation. The state governments on the other hand have the concern over domestic issues. The federal government has the ability to enact laws governing the whole country since its powers are limited. The federal government can also regulate interstate commerce but it does not have the guarantee to regulate commerce which occurs in a single state.
