Intrinsic value offers a logical approach towards evaluating relative attractiveness of investments as well as businesses. According to the organization’s perception, it is an estimate rather than a precise figure, an estimate that should be changed when the interest rates move or even forecasts of the future cash flows be revised. The organization does not give estimates of its intrinsic value but what appear in the reports are usually facts used to calculate the intrinsic value. The organization regularly reports its per-share book value in an easily calculable number, but in a limited use. The subsequent limitations do not arise from its holding of marketable securities carried on its books at current prices.
