CTCH 685 9040: Unit 4 Discussion: Drafting your Elevator Pitch
Unit 4 Discussion: Drafting your Elevator Pitch
In a previous unit, you started to plan your elevator pitch by considering your unique selling points. In this discussion, you will put pen to paper and draft your elevator pitch.
Remember that an elevator pitch is only 30 to 60 seconds. This discussion will consist of two parts.
Part 1
Before drafting your elevator pitch, it is recommended to consider 3–5 professional achievements and write them down using the STAR-L format (situation, task, action, result, lessons learned).
- Situation: In 1–2 sentences, describe the situation (e.g., a problem that needs to be solved). Consider this the context.
- Task: In 1–2 sentences, state the task you had to perform and include any other members of your team (if applicable).
- Action: In 1–2 sentences, state the actions you personally took to achieve the task.
- Result: In 1–2 sentences, state the end results or outcomes of the actions you took. Be specific and quantifiable!
- Lessons Learned: In 1–2 sentences, reflect on what you personally learned and how you grew personally or professionally.
In part one of this discussion post, write only three of these professional achievements using a number system: Achievement 1, Achievement 2, Achievement 3.
