Week 1 Assignment 1: Access Control Environment Installation Lab

In cybersecurity network defense, firewalls are crucial for the survival of the network. A firewall is your first line of defense from hackers. Demonstrate the protection of a network by properly configuring the firewall software pfSense.

1. View “Introduction to CYB-525” and “Access Control Environment Installation Lab – Parts 1-3″ within the Video Playlist: Technology Implementation of Security Solutions, located in Class Resources.
2. Research installation guides and details for pfSense installation within your virtualization program.
3. Download and install the pfSense firewall into a new VM.
4. Create a Kali Linux VM.
5. In a Microsoft Word document, provide screenshots of the process. Make sure to describe each screenshot, including lessons learned and/or successes, issues encountered, how to prevent issues in the future, as well as helpful pfSense software resources.

APA style is not required, but solid technical writing is expected.

This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
