Goals and Goal Orientation-Analyzing Jillian’s Story for Goals and Goal Orientation
The “Jillian’s Story” video that you viewed this week took you on the journey of a college student who persisted through a number of obstacles to achieve her goals. Review the notes you took while viewing the video and analyze Jillian’s story in terms of the types of goals Jillian set for herself, and her primary goal orientation. Analyze the attributions Jillian made when she experienced setbacks and the affective, cognitive, and behavioral outcomes that resulted.
Next, bring to mind a story of your own that involved goals. How does your story compare with Jillian’s?
What implications do goal orientation theories have for educators in today’s schools and workplaces?
