WEEK 6 DISC 1: Perspectives
Prior to beginning work on this discussion forum, read Chapter 22 by Outtz (2010) and Chapter 24 by Sackett (2010) in the Handbook of Workplace Assessment text, and Chapter 6 by Rebelo dos Santos et al. (2017) in The Wiley Blackwell Handbook of the Psychology of Recruitment, Selection and Employee Retention text.
At this point in the course, you have had an opportunity to study how assessment can be used to inform decision-making in the workplace. You have evaluated different types of assessments, analyzed different assessment applications, and examined different assessment instruments and their use in the workplace. Now, consider your own perspectives about workplace assessment.
- In an initial post of at least 350 words and citing at least two scholarly sources, Analyze your personal perspectives about assessment when used to inform decision-making in the workplace.
- Explain which applications of workplace assessment seem fair, moral, and ethical to you, using the literature to defend your perspectives.
- Discuss which kinds of assessment seem unfair, immoral, or unethical to you, using the literature to defend your perspective.
- Recommend a set of qualifying questions you would suggest practitioners use to evaluate whether to use workplace assessment. Make sure your questions are grounded in the literature.
- Explain how likely you are to recommend using assessment to support organizational decision-making in the workplace.
- List qualifiers that supplement your recommendations.
