In an initial post of at least 350 words and citing at least two required resources (see APA: Citing Within Your PaperLinks to an external site. and Formatting Your References ListLinks to an external site.),

  • Explain the concept of social categorization and the use of stereotypes to organize information about people.
    • Defend whether social categorization and stereotypes are inherently good or bad, referencing academic literature to support your points.
  • Analyze different types of stereotypes and their derivation, referencing your Blaine and Brenchley (2021) textbook.
  • Distinguish between stereotypes that may be useful in an organizational setting to help categorize people respectfully, and those that are not useful and may be discriminatory in grouping people.
    • Explain the connection between stereotypes, prejudice, and bias.
    • Identify at least one way a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiative could help overcome negative stereotypes and social categorization in an organization.
