Pre-search questions and applications

Ethnicity

In order to avoid giving biased information regarding this topic to the public, examining of one’s cultural assumptions is very crucial and also understanding of people view regarding the topic. Several questions are worthwhile considering before embarking on the research:

What actually is ethnicity and what makes an ethnic group?

What do you as an individual term ethnicity to be?

What do the public consider ethnicity to be?

 What does the government or the constitution term ethnicity to be?

Do you as individual make ethnic jokes? Or behave differently towards different ethnic groups?

Information about ethnicity can be obtained from areas such as books documenting its origin and how it is spread, from newspapers, daily interactions of people of different ethnicities, work places, schools, churches, journals, articles and media among others (Yinger, 1994)

Find and list 3 or 4 sources for Bullying in school (physical, cyber, laws, or role of schools of parents)…

Bullying is all about the exploitation of power. Cyber bullying is a whole society’s issue, in schools, neighborhood and at home among others (Kowalski, Limber & Agatston, 2012).  Students who bully others face-to-face are also the ones whom bully others online. The cyber bullying in schools can be facilitated through:

Mobile phones

E-mails

Social networking sites

Credibility of the sources

The sources for my project topic have a high level of accuracy since first-hand information is obtained through the media and also direct observation. The audience involved here are all people of ethnic backgrounds and thus the proper audience is addressed. The sources used here are also credible in that they all have the authority to touch about the topic agenda though acquiring such sources such as books, magazines and journals can not only be time consuming but can also require a lot of money. For the bullying, the proper audience may not be addressed as it not only involves students and the authority of accessing such message be barred since it is rather difficult to track individual phones or emails (Salkind, 2012)

Follow-up question

After reading the sources the following questions are of importance:

 What form of information does one need to retrieve from such a source?

How can one get information from sources where there is limited authority?

What are the implications of getting information from personalized sources?

What important keywords can be used to emphasize specific keywords of the topics?

 Does one have enough content for the topic?
