During the 14th century, women were considered a minor character in the society and had a little significance in the society. They could not make recognizable decisions and were perceived to be a property of men. They are treated differently according to different circumstances. At one point, they are treated as being powerless and considered that they do not have power or control over men. In other occasion, they are depicted to have absolute control over men. Their status is seen to jump from a brutal and depraved treatment by men to having an ability to fight back. Finally, they were considered heroic after realizing they could control men with their character.
